Facelift in Turkey

A facelift lifts the deeper tissue of the lower face and jawline back toward where it once sat, rather than only pulling the skin. The neck can belong to the same plan, while the upper eyelid is decided separately.

A facelift is an operation that lifts the loosened deeper tissue of the cheeks, lower face and jawline back toward its earlier position. Sagging usually starts beneath the skin, in the supporting layer of fat, connective tissue and muscle, and the deep plane technique works in that layer so the whole structure moves together. Pulling the skin alone is not the default, because stretched skin does not carry the jawline and can look flat. For patients who travel to Türkiye, the decision rests on how the face moves and how elastic the skin is, which only an examination shows. The aim is a familiar face, repositioned.

What it addresses

In a deep plane facelift the layer of fat, connective tissue and muscle beneath the skin is released together and fixed again a little higher and slightly outward. This gives the cheek and jawline more movement, although the surgeon does not work at the same depth in every face. Thin tissue, an earlier operation or weak skin quality each change how far the layers can be moved. Fine lines, lost volume and skin spots lie outside what the technique changes, and other methods deal with them. The purpose is to bring a dropped structure closer to its own earlier alignment.

Who it is considered for

A facelift is considered for people whose cheeks and jaw corners have descended, whose jawline has separated from the neck, or who have deepened folds around the mouth. This usually happens while the skin still has reasonable elasticity, although age alone is not the measure. Smoking, earlier facial operations, blood-thinning medication and general health are all discussed before any plan is made. Fine lines, sun spots and lost volume are separate problems, and a facelift is not presented as the single answer to them. These questions are settled face to face, with the surgeon looking at how the tissue moves.

How the plan is made

The incision usually begins inside the hair at the temple, follows the front fold of the ear, passes behind it and ends in the hairline at the nape. This places the scar in shadow and under hair, yet every incision leaves a mark that softens over months. In the first days the face is wrapped, a small drain is sometimes placed, and sleeping with the head raised is advised. Swelling and bruising settle over several weeks, and numbness around the cheeks and ears can last until sensation returns. This page is general information; your plan is settled after examination and a written quote.

What the written plan settles

At the examination the surgeon reads facial movement, skin elasticity and the marks of any earlier operation, and decides whether a deep plane approach suits you, whether the neck joins the same day, and whether the upper eyelid is handled as a separate step. The planned stay in Istanbul is 5–7 days. Op. Dr. Ramazan Güler sees the incision area before you travel and clears the flight home once swelling, dressing and stitches allow it. The early swelling is not waited out in the city.

What Our Patients Say

Notes from patients who travelled for face and neck surgery. Results differ from person to person.

I was collected at the airport and taken straight to the hospital. Blood tests and the ECG were done before I met the surgeon. He was clear about what a deep plane facelift could and could not do.

My coordinator answered every question before I flew. The room was clean, and the nurses checked on me through the night after the neck lift. I flew home once the surgeon said I was ready.

I asked about eyelids as well as the facelift. They were only added after the surgeon reviewed my health and the operating time. I appreciated that it was not automatic.

The written quote listed surgery, anaesthesia, the hospital nights, transfers and follow-up. Nothing about the price changed after I arrived.

The surgeon told me to wait on a brow lift. I wanted everything at once, but the advice was honest. The face and neck result still looks like me, just less heavy.

Swelling in the first week was exactly what they described. The coordinator still replies now that I am home. Healing is slower than the photos online suggest, and they said that too.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The difference is the layer that moves. In a skin-only lift the surface is stretched while the loosened structure beneath stays where it is, so the jawline can keep dropping. In a deep plane lift the fat, connective tissue and muscle under the skin are freed and raised, and the skin follows that movement without tension. Which route suits you depends on tissue thickness and how far the sagging has gone.
Yes, when the sagging of the lower face continues into the neck, both are planned together because jawline and neck form one line. Loose neck skin, muscle bands and fullness under the chin are read separately, and not every one of them needs treatment. A neck step lengthens the operation and the anaesthetic, so it is written as its own item in the plan and decided at examination.
The scar starts inside the hair at the temple, follows the front fold of the ear, passes behind it and continues into the hairline. Much of its length lies in natural folds or under hair. In the first weeks the line can look red and slightly raised, and over the following months it softens and pales. Skin type influences its final quality. The scar does not disappear entirely; the surgeon places it where it is least visible.
After the operation the face and ears are held in a soft dressing. If fluid is likely to collect, a thin drain is placed under the skin and is usually removed within the first days at a check by the surgeon. The duration varies from patient to patient. Keeping the head raised, using cold compresses and following the movement rules given by the surgeon shape the first week.
No. The upper eyelid lies outside the layer a facelift works in. Excess upper-lid skin is read separately from brow position and from cheek descent. If it needs treatment, eyelid surgery is planned as its own decision and can be done on the same day. A low brow is not lifted by eyelid surgery either, so that question is assessed on its own.
A facelift changes position, not surface texture. Fine lines around the mouth, sun spots and volume lost from the cheeks are different problems, treated with other methods. When the sagging structure is lifted, some folds soften, but the quality of the skin stays as it was. At examination the surgeon first separates which complaint comes from sagging and which from surface or volume.
Often this can be assessed, though the plan is built afresh. The scar from the first operation, the thinness of the tissue and how far the layers were opened before all need to be known. The new incision is drawn to rest on the old scars, and operation notes and earlier photographs help. The surgeon then says at examination how much can be moved and whether a further operation would serve the face.
