Brow Lift in Turkey
A brow lift raises a brow that has descended and now sits heavily between the forehead and the eye. It is not added when the brow already sits well, and it is a different operation from eyelid surgery.
A brow lift is an operation that raises a brow which has dropped, so that it rests at a better height between the forehead and the eye. With age the brow, especially its outer end, can sink toward the eyelid and push skin down over it, which is often mistaken for excess eyelid skin. The lift repositions the brow tissue itself. It is not a forehead procedure that moves the hairline, and it is not blepharoplasty, the operation on the eyelid skin. Patients who come to Türkiye are first examined for where the brow sits at rest, because a brow that already sits well is left alone.
What it addresses
Brow lifts are done in several ways. An endoscopic lift uses a few short cuts hidden in the hair and a thin camera to release and raise the brow, which works well when the hairline is of ordinary height. A limited approach lifts mainly the outer part of the brow through a small cut near the temple. Other approaches place the cut at or just above the hairline, and the choice follows hairline height and skin quality. Each has limits: the brow can only be moved a measured distance, and expression lines in the forehead are not erased by repositioning.
Who it is considered for
A brow lift is considered for people whose brow has settled low, giving a tired or stern look, or whose upper eyelids appear heavy because the brow rests on or below the bony rim of the eye. A heavy brow is more common toward the outer end, and it can follow years of frowning or facial change. Those whose brow already sits at a good height are not offered a lift, even when the eyelids carry extra skin; that is a question for eyelid surgery. How the plan is made
The cuts are small and lie in the hair, so the scars are hidden and soften over months. Dressings are light, and a head wrap may be used for a day or two. The forehead and scalp feel tight and numb at first, and some itching follows as sensation returns, which can take weeks. Swelling and bruising may spread toward the eyelids and settle in about two weeks. Fixation holds the brow while it heals, and raising the eyebrows forcefully is avoided early on. What the written plan settles
At the examination the surgeon measures the brow position at rest and when you relax your forehead, and judges whether the brow or the eyelid is the source of the heaviness. The surgeon looks at where the brow sits at rest against the bony rim of the eye, and at how brow and eyelid skin relate when you relax your forehead. A brow that lies at or below the rim, especially at its outer end, may be a candidate. Many people hold their brows up with effort without noticing, so the examination watches you at rest. A photograph taken mid-expression can mislead.
They are related but not identical. A brow lift is aimed at the position of the brow itself. A forehead lift, in the older sense, moves the whole forehead and can change the hairline. Modern brow lifts are planned to move the brow where it is needed and to respect the hairline. At examination the surgeon tells you which of these is actually being proposed for your face.
Eyelid surgery removes skin from the upper lid. A brow lift raises the brow above it. When a low brow pushes skin down onto the lid, removing lid skin alone can leave the brow low. When the brow is well placed and only the lid carries extra skin, lid surgery is the right operation. The two are sometimes combined, and the surgeon decides this by reading the brow first.
It is a lift done through a few short cuts hidden in the hair, using a thin camera to see under the skin. The surgeon releases the brow from the tissue holding it low and fixes it higher. Because the cuts are small, the scars are small and sit in the hair. It suits many foreheads but not all; a high hairline or a heavy forehead may call for a different route.
A surprised look comes from lifting the brow too high or too evenly, and the surgeon aims to avoid it. The outer part of the brow is usually lifted a little more than the inner part, which keeps a natural arch. Early swelling can briefly make the brow look high, and that fades. During planning the surgeon marks how far the brow should move, and that limit is respected on the day of surgery.
Numbness of the forehead and the top of the scalp is expected, and sensation returns gradually over weeks to months. Itching often comes with the recovery. Brow movement may feel limited at first because of swelling and tightness, and it usually returns as the tissue settles. Some people notice a weakness that takes longer, which the surgeon checks at every visit.
Hair near the incisions can thin for a time, because the follicles are bruised, and it usually regrows over the following months. The cuts are placed carefully to protect the follicles, and the surgeon discusses it first if you already have thinning hair or a receding hairline. Smoking slows healing and raises the risk of problems, so it is addressed before surgery.
