Jawline contouring is a plan for the lower face that first works out why the line between jaw and neck looks soft, and then treats that cause. In Turkey it begins with an examination, because the same blur can come from fat under the chin, from skin that has lost its tension, or from a chin that sits small and set back, and each of these calls for a different step. This is contour work. It does not move the jaw bones and it does not correct the bite, which belongs to orthognathic surgery. Because the reading decides the operation, the examination comes before any date is set.
What it addresses
The approach follows the cause. Where the softness is fat, a thin tube is passed through a small opening under the chin, the fat is loosened and drawn out, and the jaw line can begin to show. Where the skin has lost its tension, a tightening step may be added to the plan, and where the chin sits small, a measured amount of projection may be given with a small chin implant or with your own fat. The openings are small and lie under the chin or behind the ears, in natural folds. The jaw bone is not cut and the bite does not change.

How the plan is made
In the first days the area under the chin is swollen and may bruise, and the skin can feel numb and tight. A strap or garment is worn day and night at first and then at night only, for as long as the surgeon sets. You sleep with the head raised and avoid heavy lifting and pressure on the chin. The line appears gradually as the swelling leaves, and the lower face may look full and blurred before it looks defined. A pulling feeling on turning the neck is common early and usually settles. No. Jawline contouring shapes the line between jaw and neck by working on fat, skin and the projection of the chin. It does not cut the jaw bones and it does not change how the teeth meet. If your concern is the bite or the position of the jaw, that belongs to orthognathic surgery and needs its own assessment. At the examination the two questions are separated so that you know which one applies.
The surgeon holds the tissue under the chin between finger and thumb: fat is soft and can be gathered, while loose skin stays slack even when the fat is reduced. Seen from the side, the position of the chin tip against the rest of the face is also clear. The three causes often exist together, so do not expect only one answer. The examination gives each its share, and the plan is written to match.
If the double chin is fat under the chin, that fat is reduced and the line can show. If it comes from loose skin, taking fat alone can make the sagging more visible, and the plan then needs a separate step for the skin. That is why the decision is made at the examination and not from a photograph. Fat reduction without enough skin tension does not give the same line in every face.
The area under the chin is among the first to respond to weight change. If you gain weight after the operation, fat gathers again, and if you lose weight, the line shifts, so the contour that was planned moves with it. The surgeon therefore asks that your weight has been balanced for some time. If you are still losing weight, it is in your interest to discuss surgery once the weight has settled.
The openings are small and are planned in the fold under the chin or behind the ears, so a visible line on the front of the face is not expected. Which one is used depends on whether fat, skin or the chin is being treated. During healing the marks can look pink and feel tender, and they soften with time. At the examination the position of each opening is shown to you and explained.
The surgeon sets the time and it depends on what was done. It is usually worn day and night in the first days and at night only afterwards. Its purpose is to help the skin settle onto the new contour and to limit swelling. If it causes trouble, say so at the review. How to put it on and when to remove it is given to you in writing before you leave.
A small chin can be brought forward by a measured amount with a small implant or with your own fat, and that can make the line between chin and neck read more clearly. If the recession comes from the position of the bone and from the bite, the problem goes beyond contour surgery, and an orthognathic assessment is advised.
